Before Sister Maureen O’Connell founded Angela House in 2001, she served as a teacher, Police Officer and Chaplain for the Chicago Police Department, a psychotherapist, trainer, and manager of community service agencies. Currently the OP-Executive Director, she is also a Certified Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and approved Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapy supervisor in the State of Texas. Sister Maureen is a clinical member and approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and Houston Assoc. of Marriage and Family Therapy and serves as field instructor at Our Lady of the Lake University/San Antonio; University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work; and Texas Southern University. She serves on the Board of Healthcare for the Homeless Houston and is life member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She holds a BA Degree from DePaul University in Chicago and an M.S.W. Degree from the University of Houston. She is a vowed member of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, Adrian, Michigan.
